OTSUKA Supports Healthy Community Movement through “First Aid Drink” Program for a Healthier Indonesian Society

Sukabumi, 13 December 2019 – As a form of concern for public health, PT Amerta Indah Otsuka through the Corporate Social Responsibility program “SATU HATI” is committed so that society, especially in the area around the factory, always live healthy and clean.

One of it is the First Aid Drink program initiated by Otsuka since 2011. This program has made a positive contribution to the surrounding community, especially in reducing the number of dengue fever sufferers. In 2014, Otsuka collaborated with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, especially in terms of education on prevention of dengue fever, POSYANDU (Integrated Health Service Post) training, and the promotion of a Healthy Clean Lifestyle. These three activities are also in line with the program launched by the Ministry of Health, namely GERMAS or the Healthy Living Community Movement.

“Lack of information and awareness related to healthy lifestyles that occur in society today, which results in high cases of dengue even to death, encourages Otsuka to help increase public awareness of the importance of healthy living through various activities,” said Sudarmadi Widodo, Human Capital and Corporate Affair Director.

The First Aid Drink program was also implemented in a number of activities carried out by Otsuka, such as education about dengue fever to cadres of POSYANDU, school children and parents of students to reduce and prevent dengue fever. In addition, coaching and development for POSYANDU began in 2012, where there are currently five POSYANDUs around the Otsuka factory that have received coaching; four of PT Amerta Indah Otsuka’s POSYANDUs have become POSYANDU Mandiri or Independent Integrated Health Service Post. Through this POSYANDU development, it is expected to be able to improve the quality of a healthy life in society. In 2015 Otsuka started adding the Healthy and Clean Lifestyle Deployment program by promoting a good waste management system and donation of garbage bins to the community around the factory.

“The success of health development through GERMAS (Healthy Community Movement) is strongly influenced by the efforts and positive contributions from various other sectors including the private sector and the community. Otsuka through its CSR activities has created good and sustainable collaboration for a healthier community life,” said Riskiyana Sukandi, Director of Health Promotion and Community Empowerment Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia.

“This is Otsuka’s commitment to always give the best and continue to strive to innovate for healthier people’s lives, such as our philosophy of “Otsuka people creating new products for better health worldwide,” and we will continue this program forward to create community and healthier environment,” closed Sudarmadi Widodo.
